DESCRIPTION

As a Senior Program Manager on the AWS Tax team, you will play a pivotal role in driving critical projects that span multiple functions, including accounting, finance, legal, HR, and tech teams. Your efforts will directly contribute to the success of AWS, one of the most innovative and dynamic businesses at Amazon.

Key job responsibilities
- Collaborate with project owners and stakeholders to define and refine project objectives and deliverables.
- Clarify workstream requirements from impacted functions and communicate these effectively to project stakeholders and sponsors.
- Develop workstream project plans, identify dependencies, and support resource planning.
- Liaise with cross-functional teams to provide comprehensive status updates to program leads.
- Identify project risks, escalate issues to leadership, and resolve blocking problems during project phases.
- Execute project closeout processes, ensuring all artifacts are finalized and archived.
- Lead retrospectives to drive process improvements and support the development and delivery of tools, templates, and trainings.

A day in the life
Your typical day will involve creating meeting agendas, attending and leading project meetings, issuing meeting minutes, and following up on action items. You will build relationships across Tax and cross-functional teams, own recurring tasks such as preparing stakeholder documents, tracking budgets, and seeking opportunities for process enhancement.

About the team
This role is based in the US but supports a globally distributed Tax team dedicated to the AWS business. You will be part of a collaborative and innovative environment where your contributions will have a significant impact on AWS's global operations.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of program or project management experience
- Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
- Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership
