*This is an open fulltime Career Service (CS) Senior Community Health Nurse position at the Department of Health in Lee County.*
This is a Senior Community Health Nurse in the Tuberculosis department at the Florida Department of Health in Lee County (DOH-Lee). Works directly under the supervision of the Nursing Program Specialist. This position provides services within the TB clinic as well as additional duties coordinating state program services. This position has access to the following information sets: TB records, immunizations, medical records, laboratory, HIV testing, and the HMS system. Responsible to maintain confidentiality, security, privacy and integrity of protected health information. Refers to and utilizes DOHP 50-10 Information Security and Privacy policy as required. The employee in this position may under certain circumstances take confidential information from the premises of DOH-Lee. Employee must always maintain the minimum required information in their control in a locked briefcase. Information should be returned to the Florida Department of Health-Lee before close of business if feasible. If not feasible, employee is granted permission to keep until next working day.
Clinic Services :
Responsible for timely follow-up on abnormal lab results according to established protocols
Support Services:
Serves as staff advisor to student affiliates and new staff nurses.
Serves as a professional community resource for TB.
Assists with development and implementation of county/community activities to promote health and disease prevention to include TB/HIV. Responsible for follow-up of referrals to TB, PrEP, and Test and Treat Programs.
Performs other duties as assigned.
