The incumbent performs the following:

  • Collaborates with the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind (FSDB) staff and FSDB-assigned VRC to link FSDB transition student/participants for VR services in their home VR office.
  • Collaborates with Family Center on Deafness, Pinellas County to create seamless assistance to this targeted transition student group for referral, application, and case management within VR system.
  • Network to create VR/Deaf-centric agencies relationships to bolster transition services for students with disabilities impacted by hearing-loss.
  • Represent DHHDB on other transition projects when needed.
  • Manages specific Sign Language Interpreter coordination for VR staff and participants needing ASL/English communication access.
  • Gather data on the annual Vendor English/American Sign Language Interpreters Working Conditions, upload and archive documentation, and analyze trends for report to DHHDB and Field Services.
  • Assist with and prepare reports on these and other projects as needed.
  • Maintains and updates the VRAvenues DHHDB pages, including annual updates to resource documents located in VRAvenues.
  • Identify resources of comparable benefits and referral resource additions.
  • Provides consultation on issues of effective communication for VR rehabilitation team and its stakeholders as a member of a statewide team.
  • Communicates with community partners to expedite services for new and existing customers.
  • Documents activities in VR customers’ case records.
  • Attends meetings as a member of the statewide Deaf, Hard-of-Hearing, and Deaf-Blind section.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

 

**Preferred but not required**

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and three years of professional experience in program planning, program research or administrative work. A master’s degree from an accredited college or university can substitute for one year of the required experience.
  • Fluent in American Sign Language.
