Registered Dental Assistant (RDA)

Reports to: Dentist, Floor Supervisor, and Office Manager

Position Overview:

The Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) provides essential support in delivering quality dental care. This role includes patient care, assisting with various dental procedures, performing dental hygiene tasks, and managing administrative responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Care:
  • Prepare patients for dental procedures and ensure their comfort.
  • Educate patients on oral health practices to help them maintain good dental hygiene
  • Dental Procedures:
  • Assist the dentist during procedures such as fillings, extractions, and Root Canal Therapy.
  • Handle instruments, provide suctioning, and ensure patients are positioned correctly during treatments.
  • Fabrication of provision crowns, taking preliminary impressions, scanning patients mouth for fixed and removable prosthetics, application of Pit & Fissure Sealants, Whitening treatment (Zoom), under the supervision of a Dentist
  • Taking diagnostic X-rays
  • Dental Hygiene:
  • Perform dental hygiene procedures, including coronal polishing, light hand-scaling, and fluoride treatments.
  • Instrument Preparation:
  • Sterilize and maintain dental instruments and equipment to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Administrative Tasks:
  • Schedule appointments and maintain accurate patient records.
  • Provide post-operative instructions to patients to ensure proper recovery.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Registered Dental Assistant license, issued by the Dental Board of California.
  • Current CPR certification (BLS or ACLS).
  • Previous experience in a dental setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of dental procedures, instruments, and terminology.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Skills:

  • Proficient in assisting with dental procedures and performing hygiene tasks.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a clinical team environment.
