Job Summary
The Outside Sales Representative/Territory Manager is the face of Louis Allis to the marketplace and a focal point for serving existing customers and developing new customers and business opportunities. In this role, you will team with Inside Sales as the primary liaison for customers, from account penetration, account development, opportunity development and relationship management, bringing opportunities to a point of hand-off to Inside Sales for quotation development, order entry, and order management. Being the face of the company to the marketplace requires the ability to deal with customers effectively and then communicate customer and market needs clearly within the organization to make sure each stakeholder understands their role in customer satisfaction. This requires the ability to pay close attention to detail and to work harmoniously with other employees, giving the assistance necessary to satisfy customer needs.

Job Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.

To successfully fulfill the performance expectations of the Louis Allis outside sales representative, the minimum requirements are outlined as follows:

Position Summary:
  • Develop and manage a customer base in your assigned area, based on company initiatives and identified targets
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the company products and services, focusing on the values differentiators that Louis Allis brings to the market
  • Promote and sell products and services in a manner which maximizes the potential of the account/territory
  • Operate efficiently and effectively, with a disciplined approach, requiring a minimum amount close supervision
  • Act in a way that develops and maintains a positive and highly respectable image of the company in the marketplace, with customers, vendors, and competitors.
  • In every way, conduct business in a way that upholds the values and ethics of the Louis Allis Company and WorldWide Electric

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop a territory sales plan, supporting the initiatives and focuses of the company, identifying target accounts and plans for development of those targets, to maximize the sales of Louis Allis products and services.
  • Prepare a weekly call plan, outlining the accounts to be visited each day, the objectives of the customer visits and the desired outcomes for each visit.
  • Plan prospecting calls geographically, based on the daily call plan, to maximize productivity and development of opportunities in each area.
  • Prepare for sales calls based on the identified call objectives, as outlined in the call plan, ensuring that the appropriate collateral and presentation material are available.
  • Utilize factory and/or company demonstration equipment as is appropriate, with or without the support of factory representatives.
  • Use effective time management, doing as much active selling between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on weekdays, as is possible. Correspondence and other office duties/activities should be saved for non-peak selling hours.
  • Follow up on assigned sales leads promptly.
  • Be active and positive in selling the company's complete line of products and services at published levels. Any price deviation, if required, must have the prior approval of the vice-president of Sales and Business Development.
  • Keep accurate records of customer account visits, contacts, other information pertinent to account development and management, using the company CRM system.
  • Provide, to the VP of Sales and Business Development, weekly call reports based on the weekly call plan. Also report on other prospecting account activity in the geographical area of the planned visits.
  • Promptly investigate and resolve customer complaints to the best of your ability, utilizing company resources and personnel as required. Company policy dictates prompt and complete satisfaction of the customer in every case where the complaint is legitimate and justified.
  • Keep accurate records of travel, mileage, and sales-related expenses, following all company travel and expense guidelines as outlined in company documentation.
  • Promptly follow-up on all written quotations to engage the customers, driving sales opportunities to a successful conclusion for Louis Allis and the customer.
  • Understand all company sales and credit policies and procedures fully.
  • Develop a comprehensive knowledge of each service, product and application in order to recognize quickly which ones apply to any given customer situation. Grow knowledge of Louis Allis products and services through published literature, sales bulletins, sales meetings, factory training, and other means, as necessary.
  • Gain a working knowledge of competing products and companies to better promote the perception of being a "trusted advisor" to customers and partners.
  • Develop a working knowledge of every customer, e.g., their specialties, their needs, their personnel and organizational structure, their financial position, etc.
  • Perform regular market and territory analysis to keep the company informed of issues, trends, and opportunities.
  • Review sales results monthly to determine results in comparison to goals and adjust sales activities as required to ensure successful completion of assigned sales goals.
  • Maintain a professional appearance on all sales calls, taking reasonable precautions to insure good health. Maintain hygiene standards that customers and suppliers will respect.
  • Keep your workspace (office, home office and vehicle) neat and in working order to promote efficiency and show pride in your work.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum level of education: high school diploma. Associate or bachelor's degree in a technical field is preferred. Post high school degree can be replaced with a minimum of (3) - (5) years of experience in the industrial automation or power transmission equipment industry.
  • Experience can include shop labor work but must include 1-2 years of experience in sales and customer service in either manufacturing and/or distribution sales in industrial automation or power transmission equipment.
