Adelphi is seeking Licensed Vocational Nurses & Licensed Practical Nurses to perform advanced vocational nursing work for a facility in Abilene, Texas. The ideal LVN/LPN will Provide acute or long-term care, treatment and general welfare of patients who have intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Requirements:

• Completion of an Approved LVN/LPN Program
• Must be licensed LVN/LPN and able to practice in Texas
• Two years’ experience in nursing in an acute or long-term care setting
• current American Heart Association CPR certification
• Work three weekends a month and have 2 days off during the week
• Commit to a 6-month contract

Responsibilities:

• Perform advanced vocational and practical nursing work.
• Provide for the care, treatment, and general welfare of at the facility. 
• Perform basic and advanced routine and non-routine nursing tasks to promote the health of the individuals within the assigned areas and assigned shift. 
• Collect specimens for lab work and perform health screenings. 
• Instruct direct support professionals and other staff on how to provide service and care that support medical needs. 
• Perform technical nursing procedures according to facility and state regulations.
• Keep informed of and follows all agency policies and procedures.
• Provide direction and assists with on-the-job training to others such as newly hired LVNs & direct care staff. 
• Provide on-the-job nursing instruction and training for new LVNs as requested by RN Supervisor.
• Monitor, oversee the work of, and assign work to, psychiatric nursing assistants as needed. 
• Evaluate nursing intervention outcomes & provide input to other members of the healthcare team. 
• Assist RNs with implementation of protocols, procedures, and programs to improve overall health and safety of staff and individuals.
• Work under the limited supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
