Lead Officer-Campus Safety

Position Purpose
This position is responsible for the enforcement of college policies governing the general safety and security of the college community, the supervision of other campus safety officers assigned to the evening and midnight shifts and the assist in the management of the Department of Campus Safety for the Henniker campus as needed.

Essential Duties Summary

• Assists in the responsibility for the direction and supervision of campus safety officers to assure proper performance of duties and adherence to established rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
• Organizes and assigns duties to ensure appropriate coverage of departmental operational functions and activities on the day, evening and midnights shifts.
• Implements, administers and evaluates all approved departmental practices.
• Develops, implements and coordinates in-service training for campus safety officers.
• Provides training to newly hired campus safety officers.
• Covers other shifts for campus safety officers using vacation time, sick time/injury, FMLA etc.
• Maintains an effective working relationship with local police, fire and health departments.
• Understands, is committed to and implements college affirmative action and non-discriminatory regulations, policies and principles as appropriate.

Required Qualifications

• High School diploma

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice preferred
• 2 to 4 years of campus safety or law enforcement experience
• 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience within a campus safety department
• Proficiency in computer-based information systems
• Knowledge of Title IX and Clery requirements
• Knowledge of college emergency management principles
