Exotic Bird Animal Care Technician

Alaqua Animal Refuge is seeking an Exotic Bird Animal Care Technician to help care for parrots and other exotic birds rescued from neglect, cruelty, or abandonment. Many of these birds are long-lived, highly intelligent, and deeply social. They need more than just care—they need connection , enrichment, and a place to heal.
If you're experienced with birds and passionate about animal welfare, we want to meet you.
What You'll Do:
- Provide daily feeding, cage cleaning, and enrichment activities
-Monitor birds’ health and behavior and report concerns to the veterinary team
- Ensure that aviary and indoor housing areas are clean, safe, and stimulating
- Assist with medical care and handling under the direction of our veterinary staff
- Interact with birds using gentle, positive reinforcement and calm behavior
-Help with habitat preparation, adoption readiness, and public education efforts
