The Opportunity:

The Methadone/MSR RN Coordinator (CHN) works as part of the Transition Services Program (TSP) in Corrections Health (CH) providing quality care for justice involved persons in Multnomah County by coordinating their entry and release plans as related to medication supported recovery for Substance Use Disorders, with an emphasis on patients who are continuing or initiating methadone maintenance treatment in custody. This position will provide advocacy, guidance, and motivation forto medically complex clients participating and/or seeking treatment for substance use disorders. The Methadone/MSR RN Coordinator will assist in developing, monitoring, and updating the jail based Methadone program in partnership with contracted Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) staff, the Joint Supported Recovery Team, Transition Services Program, and other project staff. This position is a mandatable position in accordance with ONA contract.

The position provides screening, assessments, testing, evaluation, outreach activities and preventive therapy to appropriate populations. This position is a key coordinator with other divisions, departments and community partners ensuring good communication and shared understanding that will benefit Multnomah County community members. Some evening or weekend work will be required. The CHN also provides supervision to Licensed Practical Nurses when appropriate. This position works a minimum number of CH CHN positions/shifts within the jail facility per month to stay current in CH workflows, policies, and practice. Creates a work culture of respect, trust, and understanding for the highly diverse populations the Health Department serves in the office and in the community. Minimum Qualifications/Transferable Skills*:

  • Possession of an appropriate and valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse issued by the Oregon State Board of Nursing.

  • And the following:

    • A Associate's degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program

    • BLS/CPR certification required

  • Must be able to pass a Multnomah County Sheriff's Office Background Check

  • Ability to work independently

  • Ability to work in an interdisciplinary setting fostering a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment

  • Experience providing services to diverse and vulnerable communities

  • Experience working in behavioral health, case management, and/or substance use services strongly preferred

  • Demonstrated training and baseline knowledge in addiction medicine, addiction treatment objectives, tools, and pathways

  • Strong knowledge of the nursing process and ability to interpret clinical data

  • Experience working with electronic health record systems and the ability to function between multiple systems

  • Previous experience with justice involved individuals preferred

  • Previous experience working at an Opioid Treatment Program administering Methadone preferred
